Research can be authorized in blocks of time, so you always know your cost before work begins. After reviewing your research question during the free consultation, I'll recommend an appropriate starting point based on the scope of the project and your budget.

What's Included in Your Research Time
Your authorized research time may include:
Reviewing the information and records you provide
Developing and refining the research objective
Searching online and archival record collections
Locating and evaluating original records
Comparing and correlating evidence from multiple sources
Resolving conflicting information when possible
Documenting sources and citations
Preparing your research findings and recommendations
There are no additional charges for preparing your research report within the authorized research time.
Expenses and Outside Costs
Most projects can be completed using records and resources already available through professional databases, archives, libraries, and other research collections.
Occasionally, a project may require an additional expense, such as ordering a record from an archive, obtaining a certified copy, paying a repository fee, or hiring someone locally to retrieve a record that isn't available online.
I will never incur an additional expense on your behalf without your approval.
There is no markup on approved third-party research expenses. You pay only the actual cost.

KB Family History is an independent genealogy practice. You work directly with me—from the initial consultation through the research and final report. There are no sales teams, account managers, or layers of administrative overhead built into the cost of your research.
That allows me to offer professional research at a more accessible rate while still giving each project the careful research, documentation, analysis, and personal attention it deserves.

DNA analysis when applicable to the research objective

Research time is spent investigating your question and documenting what is found—not simply searching for names in databases.
